Why Should You Maintain Your Ideal Body Weight?

What is an ideal bodyweight? There are height and weight charts created by people. But, who’s to say those people are correct? These are all generalized rather than specific for each individual.
For example, assessing BMI as the sole factor can be misleading. A person with more muscle mass, may be considered overweight even though they are healthy. They’re simply penalized as being overweight because of their additional muscle mass. So, being overweight based on BMI doesn’t have a direct correlation to health.
Further, the theory with maintaining the ‘ideal body weight’ is that people who maintain an ‘ideal’ bodyweight will remain healthier than those who do not. The reality is, there are no real studies that back this statement up after you factor in all illnesses (cancer, obesity, diabetes, etc). Plus, there are people who maintain an ideal bodyweight, but do not eat properly, exercise often enough and who smoke.
The best idea is to maintain a healthy bodyweight that works for you and combine that with an active lifestyle and healthy foods, while avoiding things like smoking, drinking and drugs. Maintaining the ideal bodyweight alone speaks nothing of your activity levels, the foods you eat or unhealthy habits.

If you are obese or underweight it is hard on your heart and it slows you down. If you are underweight you have a lot of discomforts like getting cold easy because you don’t have enough body fat to keep you warm. Being overweight your feet heart , it’s hard on your ankles it’s hard on your heart, if you think about it say like you are 50 pounds overweight, that is like carrying 5 10 pound bags of sugar and that can be very overwhelming.

The phrase “ideal body weight” is misleading.
It cannot be found in charts. Each person has their own personal genetic shape which has to be taken into consideration.
So, my ideal body weight is the one at which I am my healthiest and I feel my best. The reason that I maintain this is so I can live longer and ENJOY life!

I think being too heavy puts extra strain on vital organs like the heart. It causes high blood pressure. It also puts a strain on your leg joints – knees and hips. It would also suggest a bad diet, which will make you ill and shorten your life.
Is that the kind of information you were looking for?

YOu should maintain your ideal body weight for a couple of different reasons. It lowers your risk of heart disease and other heart complications. Your bone structure is genetically created to carry a certain ammount of weigh and when you surpass that ammount you put stress on your bones and muscles. Your weight also has a lot to do with your emotional health. When you’re your ideal weight you feel more confident and have a higher self esteem which can improve all aspects of your life. You’ll also notice that overweight people suffer from depression, aches and pains, sore feet and ankles.
