Is It True That In The First Week Of A Diet You Don’t Lose Weight Because Your Body Stores Water?

I heard that the body stores extra water during your first week to accomadate the increased amount of exercise. That way you don’t see any results until week 2. Is this true? I have heard about the “lost fat, gained muscle” theory so please don’t tell me about that. I simply want to know if this water theory is true.

You could, if you dont drink enough. But that will happen even if you dont exercise. You need to drink water frequently, whether or not you work out.

I find that the opposite is true. With less calories, my body drops water weight.
However, your question mentions increased amount of exercise. My exercise level is “frequent” all year round. I do increase my cardio, but weight lifting is the same.

Who cares if thats true? Your not going to lose anything in your first week. It will take atleast 3 weeks to begin noticing differences.
